Totnes Fuel Poverty Project
6 September 2013
Transition Streets is to adapt its Streets scheme to support vulnerable people in Totnes, in partnership with Totnes Caring and the South Hams Citizens Advice Bureau.
The Fuel Poverty Project, which was awarded a grant of £8,900 by Devon Community Foundation from the Comic Relief fund, will offer support and practical help to older and vulnerable people to cut their energy bills and increase their homes’ energy efficiency.
Bob Alford of Totnes Caring says: ‘The charity supports over 1200 of the most vulnerable people to enable them to live at home and not be isolated. Our older clients are increasingly concerned and worried about escalating fuel costs and staying warm, quite often making the decision to switch their heating off to save money. Extra support is required to help them in remaining safe and warm in their own homes. This grant will make a huge difference some of the most vulnerable in our community. Thank you Devon Community Foundation.’
